Charities
Historically charity has often been provided through volunteers,
who remain essential to most charitable activities, but who
have operated with little or no regulation. The introduction
of professional fund raisers and a few unscrupulous operators
who have abused the system have of necessity brought about
increased regulatory requirements on all charities and charity
trustees.
The various Charities Acts have introduced stringent
accounts and regulatory requirements such that charities
need experienced advisers familiar with the Charity
sector. Here at George Hay we have a dedicated team
who are not only familiar with the regulatory requirements
but have an understanding of the difficulties of balancing
compliance with the rigours of using volunteer support.
